Started having car problems during my daily commute from Rancho Cordova to Davis. Car died several times on the highway going westbound during the fix50 construction. CHP called Cal trans to have my car towed off the highway for me at no charge (I did not know that they provided this service). Once off the highway I was able to get my car started and running temporarily, so i used the opportunity to go to a nearby auto shop asap. I looked on yelp to see what was close to my location and Prestige auto works was the best reviewed so I decided to take my car there to get it checked out. When I got to the shop there were already several other people ahead of me that were waiting to get their cars checked out as well. I couldn't risk driving again so I had no choice but to wait, even though I was told that it could take up to several hours before they would be able to get to my car. I sat in the shop for several hours (which wasn't terribly bad since they have a couch and tv in the waiting room), and I was a little annoyed at how long it was taking for them to get to my car, but I knew that I showed up without an appointment and that there were other people ahead of me so it was understandable. The owner, Andre, ended up staying after closing time in order to diagnose what was wrong with my car, which was much appreciated. My car had several faulty sensors and would have to be left overnight to be fixed the following day. Andre personally described the issue to me and the best course of action to resolve that issue. Prices for parts and labor were reasonable and comparable to other shops. Customer service was outstanding from the mechanics and the receptionist. I received several courtesy calls updating me on the status of the repairs and my car was ready to be picked up in a timely manner. The issue seems to have been resolved at the moment (I'm hoping it stays that way, it has only been a couple days since I picked it up); however, they also provide a one year/12,000 mile warranty on their parts and labor which is good to know should the problem reappear. I probably won't be coming back to this shop again anytime soon (hopefully!), only because I ended up having to stop somewhere in the middle of my commute, and I live kind of far from it. BUT, I highly recommend going to this shop if you are in the area or willing to make the drive out.
